WebAdmin 2.5 System Requirements Checker

The following is a check on the system requirements and recommendations for WebAdmin 2.5. Minimum Requirements are indicated in bold while Recommended values are shown in a regular font. If you see a red X icon beside any requirement, then this host does *not* support WebAdmin 2.5. If you see a yellow exclamation mark, then this host will support WebAdmin 2.5, but with reduced functionality.

1 - PHP Version and Extensions

PHP 5.0.5 or greater You must have PHP 5.0.5 or greater installed in order for WebAdmin to run. If you do not meet this requirement, contact your host to see if they can upgrade your hosting account to PHP 5.0.5 or greater. If they have concerns about using PHP 5, they may want to read this article on the discontinuation of PHP 4 support.
PHP 5.2 or greater If you are running PHP 5 on your server, we recommend using PHP 5.2 or greater to take advantage of advanced performance monitoring functions.
SafeMode Off You must have running with the safe_mode diretive set to "off". If safe_mode is "on", then many critical PHP functions will be disabled and WebAdmin will not opperate correctly.
GD Image Support We recommend you have GD installed on your server, so that PHP can work with your images (e.g. create thumbnails and image previews). If GD is *not* installed, then any module that uses images will not be able to automatically resize your images.
XML Processing Support We recommend you have XML support enabled so that WebAdmin can contact the Lewis Media license server. This is important to access up-to-date documentation, use the integrated help desk, and download patches and updates.

2 - Server Configuration

Outgoing Connections Enabled We recommend that your server be configured to allow outgoing connections to waldo.lewismedia.com to access up-to-date documentation, use the integrated help desk, and download patches and updates.
Files are Writeable It must be possible to write to PHP files in order to properly process updates and patches and to run the installer. If you see a warning for this item, try using FTP to change the permissions on the folder this file is in to 777 or 755.
mod_rewrite Installed mod_rewrite is an Apache module that will allow us to automatically generate search-engine-friendly URLs for your website. This is important for SEO purposes.

3 - MySQL Configuration

MySQL 3.23 You must have MySQL 3.23 or greater installed in order for WebAdmin to run. If you do not meet this requirement, contact your host to see if they can upgrade your hosting account to include an adequate version of MySQL.
MySQL 4.1 or greater If you are running MySQL, we recommend using MySQL 4.1 or greater to take advantage of full-text boolean search capabilities of WebAdmin.
