I found myself being forced to answer this question today - how fast can an agile company move? Of course I soon realized that the more important question is...are we agile?
I'm not talking about software development here - I'm talking about physically moving. For the past year or so we've been considering relocating to bigger space but it seemed that the options were limited...and there was the current lease to consider. So we had pretty much resigned ourselves to staying put for another year. Until a few days ago when our landlord asked if we still wanted out of our existing lease because he has someone interested in the space.
Well this is where the rubber hits the road. Can we find suitable, bigger space - closer to downtown and within our budget - prepare it and relocate the company within 6 weeks....stay tuned becasue Lewis Media has just entered the agile company olympics!
Hey Folks,
A local programmer we've worked with on several occasions has put together a neat video on Learning PHP - it's an introductory video, but it does a good job of covering the basics.
He has it on sale right now for $9.87 CDN for the 68 minute video - and you can see the details, order, and view it at: http://www.learnphptutorial.com/
Cheers,
Joseph
Good morning!
The monthly Automatic Updates originally scheduled for Monday, June 16 are being postponed until later this week. There are a lot of changes in the upcoming updates and we're putting them through extra testing to make sure that you and your clients continue to be able to work smoothly and without interruption.
An important note: part of the reason for the delay is that this update will include a critical security update - rather than waiting till the July scheduled patch, we are including it in this upcoming patch.
It is important that you process updates for your website client as soon as possible. We will post back to this topic as soon as the update is released.
Update:
The update has been released!
Please ensure that your clients' sites download this update as soon as possible to take advantage of new functionality and security fixes.
I know we have run into the problem a couple of times - a client will come to us and say something like "I want a tabbed menu" so you design a tabbed menu and they come back and say "not those kinds of tabs....".

If any of you have had to deal with spam (Derek's mortal enemy) then you will be familiar with the concept of a CAPTCHA and what it can do for your website. CAPTCHA stands for "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart". In short, a CAPTCHA is one of those little boxes with a graphic of a word inside. You normally see on a site where you have to submit some information, and they ask that you type the word that you see in the box to confirm that you are in fact human. The Contact Form module has a CAPTCHA option which you can either enable or disable.
Although CAPTCHAs do wonderful things to prevent bots from spamming your website, they are horrible when considering things like usability. Here's a good post talking about the topic.
