Impact Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders

Sun, Apr 10th, 2005

Fast approaching is the time to once again empower tomorrows leaders. As a result of last year's success, Impact, the conference that sparked national recognition, will be held again this year, taking place on November 18 & 19, 2005 in Toronto, Ontario. The two-day conference is designed to attract and empower entrepreneurial minded students with a passion for business leadership. Last year's conference hosted over 150 students and due to the large demand for such an invaluable experience, this year's event will host over 300 eager students, and 300 industry guests alike. The conference will include an impressive list of guest speakers, ongoing opportunities for networking, an industry exhibition and a case study competition. Throughout these events students will be able to exercise their minds and share their desire to learn and grow in the business community.

"Any and all in attendance will agree that Impact lit the flame of personal entrepreneurial development in everyone and inspired the delegates to move forward with their visions and empower their future." - Rahul Bhardwaj Impact 2004 Delegate

A number of initiatives have commenced this year with the growth of the Impact organization. A campus recruitment strategy focused on teaming up with all post-secondary institutions in the country to recruit talented and aspiring students to the conference. A partnership with Shad Valley International, to encourage youth with entrepreneurial spirit to learn from the triumphs and hurdles that have been overcome in operating businesses. A plan is underway to form partnerships with community and entrepreneurial organizations to promote the Impact value as well as add value to members of other organizations. David Johnson, President; University of Waterloo, will chair Impact's board of advisors along with the excited support of some of Canada's top business leaders, such our newest members Harry Rosen (Executive Chairman, Harry Rosen Inc.), Barry Bisson (President, SHAD International), Kevin Salvadori (CIO & Executive Vice-President Telus Communications Inc.).

On the marketing front, we are endeavoring to partner with national media organizations in order to strengthen and encourage the importance of youth in entrepreneurship as a means of economic and social growth both nationally, and globally. Impact is a not-for-profit, student run organization dedicated to fostering and encouraging aspiring entrepreneurs. We are currently seeking interested speakers, sponsors, and partners for this year's conference and encourage you to get involved. "I thought that Deloitte received great exposure, and we are interested in participating again next year. I personally had a great time at the event." - Rob Lamka Senior Manager, Tax, Deloitte - Impact 2004 Sponsor

This past November, Impact was held in Waterloo, Ontario as a one-day, student-run conference dedicated to empowering tomorrow's leaders by uniting students from across the country with top business leaders. One of Canada's well renowned entrepreneur's, Frank O'Dea founder of The Second Cup and the Canadian Landmine Foundation , was the evenings keynote speaker and who, without a doubt, made an everlasting impression on everyone in attendance. The student initiative allowed business minded students to share their ideas with esteemed business individuals and to connect with the work force with whom they will be engaged upon graduation.

Impact would also like to take this opportunity to once again thank all of its delegates, sponsors, speakers, partners including IBM, MasterCard, Deloitte, RIM, Tata Consultancy Services, CMA, Bank of Montreal, UW Research & Technology Park and the UW's Centre for Business, Entrepreneurship & Technology for their generous contributions that made this event possible.
